MONTEVALLO, Ala. – The University of Montevallo softball team completes their sweep of West Georgia behind a five RBI day from
Bentlee Stiner and a complete game from
Taylor Lloyd on Sunday, Mar. 10.
The Falcons were able to take the lead and play from ahead all game as
Taylor Lloyd was dominant in her outing today as the Soddy Daisy native pitched her fourth complete game of the season. Lloyd went five innings where she only allowed two hits, no walks and no earned runs. The sophomore struck out three Wolves today.
Ariana Pinder got the scoring started with a lead-off home run her second of the series.
Sydnee Reaves would follow up with a triple in the left center gap.
Bentlee Stiner picked up her first RBI of the day with a single that just got over the pitcher's glove as it went to center. Stiner stole second and was brought around to score after
Lily Stone stung a ball through the left side to the left fielder.
After
Taylor Lloyd set the Wolves down quietly, the Falcons strung together three straight singles from
Olivia Bergert,
Ansley Hudson and
Ariana Pinder.
Sydnee Reaves stepped to the plate with bases loaded, no out and ripped a ball into the left center gap to clear the bases and bring everyone around to score.
Taylor Lloyd would retire the side in the third with a weak pop up and ground out, then she would pick up her second strikeout of the game.
Bentlee Stiner would come up in the bottom of the third with bases loaded, one out. The sophomore three-hole hitter drove all three runs home with a double to put Montevallo up by nine. To start the bottom of the fourth,
Olivia Bergert would hit a towering shot down the left field line for her first home run of the season. The Falcons would pick up two more runs on a wild pitch and a double by
Sydnee Reaves.
