First Relay Team in Program History Places at Nationals

GENEVA, OH - The University of Montevallo men's swimming team places in the 200-yard medley relay for the first time in program history at the NCAA Division II Nationals on Wednesday, Mar. 13.

The tandem of Will Mahone, Janek Barczyk, Aleksei Kolesnikov and Juan Celis placed in 16th with a time of 1:27.66. 

Senior Will Mahone led off in the 50-yard back with a time of 22.34. Freshman Janek Barczyk swam the 100-yard breast portion of the relay with a time of 24.20. Sophomore Aleksei Kolesnikov swam the 150-yard fly in 20.92. Junior Juan Celis was the anchor for the Falcons as he swam the 200-yard free in 20.20.

Montevallo finished ahead of Wingate by .32 second and in front of Nova Southeastern in .41 seconds.

The Falcons will return the pool Thursday, Mar. 14 as Aleksei Kolesnikov competes in the 100-yard fly.
