MONTEVALLO, Ala. – Montevallo men's tennis fell to No. 8 Valdosta State, 7-0, on Wednesday afternoon.
The Falcons lost the doubles point with each match going in favor of the Blazers.
Samuel Maia and
Philippe Zehender put a fight in the No. 2 doubles match but fell short, 6-4. Valdosta State's doubles team in the No. 3 match is ranked No. 31.
In singles play, the Falcons were unable to record a point but forced tie-breaker sets in the No. 1, No. 2, No. 4 and No. 6 matches.
In the No. 1 singles match,
Leonidas Lazarides won the first set 7-6, but lost 0-6, 0-6 in the next two to No. 30 Luca Mack.
Philippe Zehender battled with No. 6 Taco Takeshi but fell short 3-6, 6-3, 1-6.
At No. 4 singles,
Vittorio Noli fell to Christian Wedel, 3-6, 7-6, 7-10.
In the final singles match,
Samuel Maia earned a 6-3 win in set two but fell 4-6, 6-3, 6-10, to Jan Skerbatis.
Montevallo returns to the courts on Tuesday, March 19 to take on Spring Hill in Montevallo, Ala. at 1 p.m.
