CLINTON, Mississippi – Montevallo baseball took two games away from Mississippi College in a Saturday double-header to secure the series win and move to 14-10 overall.
On the third pitch of the day, Montevallo newcomer
Connor Crowson blasted one over the left center wall to give the Falcons an early lead. With the bases loaded and just one out on the board,
Barry Eiseman scored
Ethan Huddleston on a sacrifice fly to give the Falcons a 2-0 lead after the top of the first.
A two-run homerun from Mississippi College in the bottom of the first tied the game at 2-2.
After the two-run inning for MC in the first, junior left-hander
Adiel Melendez allowed just two baserunners over the next 3.2 innings with no hits over the span.
The Choctaws took the first MC lead of the day in the bottom of the fifth inning, 3-2, on a solo homer.
With the leadoff man
Christian Kallaher on in the top of the seventh, an RBI double from
Evan Liddie down the right field line scored a pinch-running
Aiden Cloud to know the game at 3-3. In the next Montevallo at-bat,
Ethan Huddleston's single up the middle scored Liddie and put Montevallo on top 4-3.
The Falcons blanked MC in the bottom of the seventh with a combined effort from Melendez and
Chris Foster before Montevallo extended its lead with an explosive eighth inning. Junior
Logan Harbin kicked off the festivities with a lead-off double before
Landon Leake walked to put a pair of runners on base for
Brandon Moore. On a 2-2 count, Moore went long for a three-run shot that lifted Montevallo to a 7-3 lead. In the next at-bat,
Evan Kirk singled into center and then scored Montevallo's eighth run two batter later with Liddie adding his second RBI of the day.
The Choctaws scratched two runs across in the bottom of the ninth but Foster's third save of the season gave Montevallo an 8-5 win in Clinton, Miss.

- Montevallo scored eight runs on 11 hits with no errors, while MC had five runs on eight hits with one error.
GAME 2
With right-hander
Logan Samuels getting the starting nod, the first two innings showcased both sides pitching staffs with neither side earning a hit until
Khalil Bell singled to lead off the third inning.
Connor Crowson's double two batters later threatened to score the first run of the day, but the Falcons left both baserunners on.
Samuels continued his stellar outing with just one MC baserunner over the next two innings.
The Falcons erupted for eight runs in the fifth inning sparked by another lead-off single from Bell. With the bases loaded after a bunt from
Evan Kirk and a walk from Crowson,
Evan Liddie singled into left field for his lone RBI of game two. The Choctaws walked home a run for Crowson before a wild pitch added a run from Liddie. Junior
Jake O'Connell doubled into right field for a pair of RBI before scoring on a
Brandon Moore double in the next at bat. Moore was brought home by the third double in three UM at bats with Bell's extra-base hit. Bell advanced to third on a wild pitch before stealing a run for the Falcons with his first stolen base of the season.
Samuels went three-up, three-down over the next three Mississippi College at bats to move to 3-2 on the season with his first shutout win of 2024 as the Falcons walked away with an 8-0 game two win.
