SAINT LEO, Fla. – Montevallo men's lacrosse dropped its second-consecutive road game after falling to Saint Leo, 22-12, on Saturday afternoon.
The Falcons fell behind early after Saint Leo found the opening goal on the rebound of an
Alex Egorshin save with 1:38 on the clock. Egorshin would add a pair of saves before SLU would take a 2-0 lead at the 10:06 mark. The Lions scored two goals in quick succession before Montevallo's
Jacob Obee ended a 4-0 Saint Leo run with 5:24 on the clock. Senior
Zach Laberge cut the lead down to 4-2 with his third goal of the season. On a man-up opportunity, Obee added his second goal of the day off a pass from Laberge to pull the Falcons back within one with 3:22 left in the first. The Lions ended the quarter on a 2-0 run to take a 6-3 lead into the second.
Early in the second quarter, Saint Leo extended its lead to 7-3 before Obee completed a first-half hat-trick with 12:58 on the clock. Saint Leo added a trio of unanswered goals over the next five minutes to take a 10-4 lead over the Falcons. Montevallo saw a pair of scoring opportunities before the Lions went up 11-4 at the 3:08 mark. In the final minute, Montevallo freshman
William Angus scored his third goal of the season before
Ben Boldt scored with the long stick to send the game to the half with an 11-6 Saint Leo lead.
Saint Leo opened the second half with a pair of quick goals to take a 13-6 lead with 13:14 on the clock. The Falcons added a pair of shots that were blocked before Saint Leo scored another with 7:31 left in the third. Just over three minutes later, the Lions added another pair of quick goals before Montevallo's
Jack Morris ended a 6-0 SLU run with 1:48 on the clock. SLU ended the third quarter with two goals in the final 1:43 to send the game to the fourth with an 18-7 lead over the Falcons.
The Falcons struck first in the fourth quarter following a pair of Egorshin saves with
Matthew Boas finding his way into the scoring column with a 10:43 to play. The Lions added a quick goal off the following faceoff to take a 19-8 lead. Laberge scored his second of the day on an unassisted effort at the 8:25 mark. The Lions found another set of goals to take a 21-9 lead before
Brett Bilodeau and Obee trimmed the lead down to 21-11. Following a final goal from Saint Leo,
Jack Morris scored his first goal of the season in the final minute of the game as Montevallo fell 22-12.

HOW IT HAPPENED
1st | Montevallo struggled to handle the ball early with seven turnovers in the first quarter while being outshot 12-8 in the first. Despite two goals from Obee, Montevallo trailed by three heading into the second.
2nd | Montevallo was outscored 5-3 in the second quarter with the Lions taking a 13-11 advantage in shots on goal. Montevallo cleaned up the turnovers in the second with just one turnover.
3rd | The Lions added seven goals to the tally in the third with a 14-6 shot advantage over the Falcons. The Falcons struggled on third-quarter faceoffs with just two wins to SLU's seven.
4th | For the first time of the day, Montevallo outscored SLU 5-4 in the final 15 minutes. Montevallo took a 14-9 advantage in fourth-quarter shots.

- Jackson Klewchuk tallied his 100th career point with an assist at the 1:48 mark of the third quarter.
- Montevallo's Jacob Obee led the squad with four goals on the day while adding an assist for a total of five points.
- Zach Laberge also tallied five points on Saturday afternoon with a pair of goals and three assists.
- Montevallo struggled with the faceoffs with Saint Leo taking a 24-13 advantage in faceoff wins.
