MONTEVALLO, Ala. – With a 15-8 win over Alabama Huntsville on Saturday afternoon, Montevallo men's lacrosse clinched the No. 1 seed in the Peach Belt Conference Tournament while adding the second PBC regular season title in program-history.
Sophomore goalkeeper
Alex Egorshin was a brick wall in the first quarter with four saves in the first nine minutes of action before the Falcons broke the ice with a
Ryan Andrews goal at the 6:03 mark. Montevallo's
Jacob Obee added the second goal for the Falcons off a pass from
Zach Laberge two minutes later. Egorshin added another pair of saves before freshman
Jetty Miller lifted the Falcons to a 3-0 lead heading into the second.
Egorshin opened the second quarter with another pair of saves in the first three minutes of the quarter. With an unassisted effort,
Jackson Klewchuk extended Montevallo's lead to 4-0. A few minutes later,
Matthew Boas scored his first goal of the day with the assist credited to
Trevayne Hunter. The Chargers finally got on the board with 9:27 left in the half. A trio of shots from the Falcons couldn't find the mark until Klewchuk added his second of the day to give the Falcons a 6-1 lead midway through the second. A man-up goal from Laberge, sandwiched by a pair of UAH goals, sent the game to the half with a 7-3 Montevallo advantage.
The Falcons took a pair of shots on goal to open the second half, but UAH struck first with 10:02 on the clock. Hunter found his first goal of the day just a few seconds later before UAH cut the lead down to 8-5 with 9:14 on the clock. Montevallo couldn't convert on a man-up chance, but Hunter found Klewchuk with 3:52 on the clock for Montevallo's first man-down goal of the season. UAH scored its third goal of the quarte before Labegre lifted the Falcons to a 10-6 lead with 1:36 on the clock. The Falcons didn't let another man-up chance go with a Boas goal with just 18 seconds on the clock.
UAH opened the scoring in the final stanza with a goal at the 12:46 mark. Montevallo's attack exploded for three unanswered goals with a pair from Boas while Laberge added the third to give the Falcons a 14-7 lead with 7:40 left. UAH scored its final goal of the contest with 4:22 to play. Boas punctuated the Falcons' victory with a late goal to make the score final at 15-8.

HOW IT HAPPENED
1ST | Alex Egorshin kept the Chargers off the board in the first quarter with six saves while the Falcons added three goals from three different goal scorers with just six shots in the first.
2ND | The Falcons outshot UAH 13-10 in the second quarter while Egorshin added another four saves as Montevallo took the second 4-3.
3RD | Egorshin continued his strong outing with five saves in the third while the Falcons took the third 4-3 while being outshot 12-11.
4TH | The offenses slowed in the final quarter but the Falcons still found a way to add four goals on eight shots while allowing just a pair of goals from the Chargers.
GAME NOTES
- For the second time in program-history, Montevallo men's lacrosse clinched the PBC regular season title while clinching the No. 1 seed in the conference tournament.
- The attacks were dead even with 38 shots from both sides while the Falcons added 27 shots on goal to 26 from UAH.
- For the fourth time this season, Alex Egorshin tallied at least 18 saves on 38 shots faced to move to 9-4 on the season.
- Montevallo's frontline was led by Matthew Boas with five goals while adding an assist for a team-high six points.
