MONTEVALLO, Ala. – Montevallo women's tennis fell in the final match of the regular season, 6-1, to Gulf South Conference regular season champion West Alabama.
Claire Jaramba and
Greta Vagnini were a bright spot for the Falcons in the doubles matches with a 6-1 victory in the No. 3 match. Montevallo losses in the No. 1 and No. 2 matches gave the Tigers the doubles point.
In all but one of the singles, Montevallo forced three sets while
Latizia Bojara posted the lone team point with a 0-6, 7-5, 6-2 victory in the No. 5 match. Jaramba battled back from a set one loss but eventually fell 2-6, 6-4, 4-6. Leiselotte Hartlohner took the first set of the No. 3 match before dropping the team point 6-3, 2-6, 4-6. Breedlove also took the opening set but dropped the match 6-2, 3-6, 4-6. In the No. 6 singles match,
Johanna Kullman earned a 6-4 win in the first set but fell 6-4, 5-7, 2-6.
Montevallo heads into the conference tournament with a 9-10 overall record and a 4-6 mark in GSC action. The Falcons have already clinched a spot in the post season but will have to wait to find out who is next on the schedule. The GSC Tournament is scheduled to begin on Saturday, April 27.
