COLUMBUS, Ga. – The University of Montevallo softball team is defeated in both ends of the double-header against Columbus State on Wednesday, Apr. 3 in Columbus, Ga.
GAME ONE
The Falcons got things started quickly with a lead off single from
Ariana Pinder then a two-run blast from
Sydnee Reaves to jump on the Cougars 2-0. After walking the first hitter,
Taylor Lloyd would settle in and strikeout the next three batters she saw to get out of the inning. Columbus State would battle back and take the lead in the second with four runs in the bottom half of the frame.
Lloyd would bounce back in the third as she would strikeout the side for the second time in the ballgame. In the fifth inning, Lloyd would become the fourth pitcher in program history to record 100 strikeouts in a season as she collected her eighth and final punch out of the game. Montevallo would pick up another run in the fifth inning after
Madison Fargo scored on an error committed by the Cougars.
CSU would score two runs in the fifth and four runs in the sixth to complete the run-rule of the Falcons to take the first game.

GAME TWO
The second game was a pitcher dual locked between Columbus State and Montevallo sophomore,
Mya Young. Young was stellar as she tossed a career-high of six innings in her first complete game for the Falcons this season. She didn't not strike any Cougars out but made big pitches when she needed to as she allowed only two earned runs on nine hits.
The Falcons would score their lone run of the ballgame on an error by Columbus State where
Ansley Hudson stole third then scored on the error. With a 1-1 tie going into the bottom of the fifth, CSU would take the lead with a double steal. The runner on first took second while the runner on third stole home as soon as the ball was thrown to second. CSU would tack on an extra run in the sixth inning with an RBI ground out.

- Mya Young pitched a career-high six innings for the Falcons in game two.
