ROME, GA. – The University of Montevallo softball team run rules Shorter, 11-0 in the first game of their three-game series on Friday, Apr. 6.
After both teams exchanged zeros in the first inning, Montevallo loaded the bases in the second inning with a double from
Molly Pendley, a single by
Maddie Taylor and an infield single off the bat of
Olivia Bergert.
Madison Fargo connected on a ball to left field for her first collegiate home run to put the Falcons up 4-0. With the grand slam, Fargo already had a career-high four RBI in the game.
Ariana Pinder followed up with back-to-back longballs as she hit her seventh homer of the season as UM put up five runs in the second inning.
Pinder would drive in another run with a sacrifice fly to center to score
Maddie Taylor.
Bentlee Stiner would drive two runs home with a single to center.
Molly Pendley led of the top of the fourth with a solo blast to left for her sixth homer of the season. In the fifth inning,
Bentlee Stiner would record her fourth base knock of the game with a two-run homer to center.
Sydnee Reaves would score on the home run for her second run of the game.
Taylor Lloyd picked up her 11
th win of the season and with her fourth shutout of the season, Lloyd ties the Montevallo single season recorded for shutouts in a season. She is two shutouts away for the career shutout record. Lloyd's final line was five innings pitched, with two strikeouts while she allowed only three hits and two walks. This is
Taylor Lloyd's seventh game this season where she has allowed zero runs.
