Box Score 2 ROME, GA. – The University of Montevallo softball team run rules Shorter, 11-0 in the first game of their three-game series on Friday, Apr. 6.
GAME ONE
After not scoring in the first two innings, the Montevallo bats regained the momentum they had yesterday and used it all throughout today.
Sydnee Reaves would get the Falcons on the board with a two-run single to right field.
Olivia Bergert and
Ariana Pinder both scored after the right fielder had trouble coming up with the ball cleanly. Soon after,
Bentlee Stiner drove Reaves home with a single to right to give the Falcons the lead 3-2.
Molly Pendley led of the fourth with a single, then moved over to third after
Maddie Taylor lined a ball down the left field line for a double.
Olivia Bergert picked up an RBI on a sacrifice fly to right to score Pendley. After Pinder walked Reaves would leg out a triple to score both Taylor and Pinder. For the second inning in a row, Stiner would score Reaves with a single.
Pendley would come up the next inning and blast her seventh homer of the year to give Montevallo an 8-2 lead. With the bases loaded, Pinder would earn an RBI with a groundout to the pitcher to score
Maddie Taylor. Montevallo would land one final blow to the Hawks in the sixth with home runs from freshman
Kendall Channell and
Madison Fargo.
The Hawks would make a run at the Falcons in the bottom half of the fifth with a grand slam to make the score 9-6 in favor of the Falcons.
Rachel Whiddon would come on in relief and only face two batters.
Taylor Lloyd would earn her first save of the season as she got the final four batters out with two pop ups, a strikeout and a fly out.

GAME TWO
Lily Stone got the scoring started with a two-run triple to left field that scored Channell and Stiner in the first. After a 1-2-3 inning pitched by
Taylor Lloyd, Montevallo exploded for six runs in the second inning.
Sydnee Reaves would split the right center gap to score
Olivia Bergert.
Bentlee Stiner would double to score Reaves and Fargo a batter later.
Lily Stone would pick up her third RBI of the game as she went back-to-back doubles with Stiner.
Molly Pendley connected on her third home run of the weekend with a two-run shot to center.
Bentlee Stiner would come up to the plate in the third and hit her sixth longball of the season.
Maddie Maurin pinch hit the next inning and scored
Ansley Hudson with an RBI groundout to the shortstop. Freshman
Skylar Johnson would score the final run for Montevallo with a double to left for her second RBI of the season.
Taylor Lloyd threw her fifth complete game shutout of the season and became Montevallo's single-season record holder for most shutouts in a season. Lloyd dominated the Hawks with eight strikeouts which was her fourth game this season with eight or more strikeouts. She would pick up her 12
th victory of the season and is two wins away from the single-season record in program history.
