BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – The Gulf South Conference has released its 2024 baseball All-Conference awards, Friday, with Gino Cozzi earning a spot on the second team.
 
The senior right-handed pitcher has been named to the All-GSC Second Team for the second time in his career after leading the Falcons with a 6-3 record on the mound in 2024.

"I am really proud of Gino. He's a great young man off the field as well and has worked extremely hard the past two years coming back from a major injury," said Head Coach Chandler Rose. "He picked right up this year from where he was a couple years ago and I'm so happy to see the success he's continuing to have."
 
Cozzi, a native of Downers Grove, Illinois, holds a team-leading 4.48 ERA amongst the starting rotation this season as he has made 13 starts. His 1.30 WHIP also leads all Falcon hurlers. Cozzi has amassed 53 strikeouts through 68.1 innings pitched and holds the third-best opponent batting average in the GSC at .232.
 
Throughout his 13 starts, Cozzi turned in three scoreless and one hitless outing. Notably, Cozzi tossed seven scoreless innings on the road against Delta State earlier in the year and fanned five batters. Just one week before the Delta State outing, the righty struck out a season-high seven in a win over Christian Brothers. Cozzi's most notable performance of the season was a scoreless and hitless start through five and two-thirds innings against UVA-Wise in which he struck out six. In his final start of the regular season against AUM, Cozzi held the Warhawks hitless through the first four innings and finished with three K's.
