Salisbury, N.C. – For the second time this season, Montevallo women's soccer held its opponent scoreless as the Falcons take a 0-0 draw against No. 9 Catawba on the road.
The Falcons threw the first punch with a shot on goal from
Lainey Farabaugh just 5:31 into the match but was turned away by the Catawba keeper. Isabel Dilehay looked to give the Falcons the lead in the 13
th minute but was also denied by the keeper. An offside call against Montevallo led to the first Catawba shot of the day with 23 minutes left in the first half. UM saw a few more scoring chances in the first half but couldn't convert and went into the half tied at 0-0.
Riley Bradbury was on the attack early in the second with her third shot of the day just four minutes out of the break but missed wide right. The Falcons wouldn't see another shot until a Farabaugh shot in the 65
th minute. The defensive battle continued as graduate goalkeeper
Emily Hounsell stopped a Catawba shot for their first save of the game. Catawba saw a dangerous scoring chance with just over 16 minutes left in the match but missed the opportunity with another big save from Hounsell. Montevallo had the last possession of the game but shots from
Bailey Raphelt and
Morgan Goehring missed the mark.
The Falcons first matchup against a ranked team this season ended with a favorable 0-0 draw on the road at No. 9 Catawba.
