MONTEVALLO, Ala. – The Montevallo women's soccer team defeated Valdosta State 3-1 on Saturday evening, securing back-to-back conference wins to open conference play.
The Falcons opened the game on the attack with an early shot on goal by
Bear Bradbury in the fourth minute. In a quiet first half where neither team could find the back of the net,
Rilee Bradbury fired the only other shot on goal for either team in the 24
th minute.
Montevallo began to find its groove offensively in the second half, firing four shots less than five minutes into the second half. The Falcons finally found the back of the net in the 65
th minute, as
Marica Miljanovic scored on a goal assisted by
Rilee Bradbury. The Falcons added to its lead a few minutes later, as a Blazer penalty led to a
Katelynn Kott penalty kick goal in the 68
th minute.
Valdosta State looked to respond firing the next two shots in the game. The Blazers finally found its way on the board with a penalty kick in the 77
th minute, cutting the Montevallo lead to 2-1. The Falcons would put the game back at a two-goal advantage in the 84
th minute, as
Bear Bradbury found
Isabel Dillehay who would score her third goal of the season.
The Blazers failed to respond in the final minutes leading to a Montevallo 3-1 win.
