Goals From Goehring and Dillehay Push Falcons Past UAH

HUNTSVILLE, Ala. – The University of Montevallo women's soccer team emerges victorious, 2-1, over Alabama-Huntsville with goals from Morgan Goehring and Isabel Dillehay. The Falcons move to 5-1-1 on the season and 4-0 in Gulf South Conference play.

Montevallo came out firing with two early corner kicks within the first seven minutes. Bear Bradbury was able to get a clean shot off but was saved by the Charger keeper. Within a minute, Alabama-Huntsville retaliated with a shot that was saved by the top right corner of the net. Two minutes later, Morgan Goehring attempt one of her three shots on goal on the night, but stingy UAH defense kept the Falcons off the board.

In the 24th minute, Montevallo attempted five corner kicks in the span of six minutes. After a misplay by the Charger defense, Morgan Goehring deflected a ball off her chest, planted her right foot and sent the ball to the back-left corner to give the Falcons the lead. UM shutdown the Charger attack for the remainder of the half.

The Chargers came out hungry on offense as they scored in the 48th minute to tie it up at 1-1. The game would only be tied for five minutes as Katelynn Kott headed a ball right to Isabel Dillehay for her team-leading fifth goal of the season. Montevallo kept their foot on the gas with four more shots after they went ahead 2-1. From there on out, UAH was only able to put together two shots that were unsuccessful, moving the Falcons to a 4-0 record in GSC play.
