HUNTSVILLE, Ala. – Montevallo women's soccer falls in a neutral-site bout against McKendree hosted by Alabama Huntsville on Saturday afternoon.
The Falcons' attack drew first blood in the eleventh minute after a pair of UM shots on goal from
Rilee Bradbury and
Morgan Goehring rebounded to find an open Bradbury who finished the play off with a goal. With the Falcons' leading early,
Lainey Farabaugh looked to extend the advantage in the 14
th minute, but the McKendree keeper turned her shot aside.
Montevallo's attack nearly added a second first-half goal off a corner in the 28
th minute but
Bear Bradbury would be denied by the McKendree keeper. The Bearcats made UM goalkeeper
Emily Hounsell work in the next five minutes, forcing the graduate to make a pair of saves with just 10 minutes left in the half. Both defenses didn't allow a shot in the final 10 minutes, sending the game the half with a 1-0 UM lead.
McKendree came out of the break swinging and knotted the score at 1-1 in the first three minutes of the second half. The Bearcats added another quartet of shots over the next five minutes before
Shadia Valenzuela's first goal as a Falcons lifted Montevallo to a 2-1 lead off an assist from sophomore
Raylene Alcaraz. The Falcons looked to add another goal, but McKendree flipped the script and responded with a goal in the 65
th minute. Another goal from the Bearcats left the Falcons trailing 3-2 with just 26 minutes left in the half.
Montevallo saw its final chance to equalize come in the final minute as Farabaugh found open space in front of the net but a final save from McKendree sent the Falcons home with the first loss of the season.

- Montevallo outshot McKendree 14-13 on the day but the Bearcats took a 9-8 advantage in shots on frame.

- In the second game of the season, Raylene Alcaraz recorded her second assist to lead the Falcons through two games.
- Graduate keeper Emily Hounsell tallied five saves on the day in 90 minutes of action.
