MONTEVALLO, Ala. – Montevallo women's soccer ends its Mississippi road trip with a 1-0 win over Delta State after a late goal from
Katelynn Kott.
Delta State fired the first shot of the game in the first 1:17 but missed the mark before the Falcons saw a pair of corners that led to
Lainey Farabaugh's shot that also missed out wide.
Ciara Duff's first save of the day came in the 17
th minute to keep the game locked in a 0-0 tie. Just four minutes later, Duff added another pair of saves just 20 seconds apart before adding a fourth save in the 26
th minute. The Lady Statesmen looked to break the tie late in the first half, but a pair of shots missed the mark before Duff stopped another shot to head to the break locked in a scoreless game.
DSU came out of the half firing with Duff having to make a sixth save in the first 37 seconds of the second half. The Falcons' second shot of the game came off the foot of
Elise Marquardt in the 63
rd minute but she couldn't find the back of the net. Duff's final save of the afternoon came in the 80
th minute to keep the game scoreless before
Ayla Ertekin put UM's first shot on goal in the 82
nd minute but was turned aside. With just 2:46 left to play,
Katelynn Kott found the back of the net to break the tie and give Montevallo a 1-0 win on the road.

- For the second time this season, Montevallo was outshot on the day with the Lady Statesmen taking 15-5 lead in shots with a 7-2 lead in shots on goal.
- The Falcons won a total of seven corners on the day while DSU took three for the game.
- Ciara Duff added yet another clean sheet of the season to move to six on the season which ranks second in the conference.
- Katelynn Kott's second goal of the season marked her first game-winner of the season.
