MONTEVALLO, Ala. – Lainey Farabugh's hat trick leads Montevallo to a dominant 7-2 win over Union to move Montevallo to a 6-0 mark in conference play.
The Falcons broke the ice early with
Sierra Nickelberry scoring from outside the box in the first 35 seconds of the game before Union would tie the game at 1-1 in the 10
th minute. The Lady Bulldogs saw a trio of chances before
Lainey Farabaugh found her first goal of the night in the 20
th minute.
Jolie Cazale would make her first save of the night in the 40
th minute to spark a counterattack that saw
Batie Casey score her first goal of her career. Cazale ended the half with another save to keep the Falcons' 3-1 lead heading into the break.
Cazale opened the half with a third save before UU cut the lead down to 3-2 in the 58
th minute. Montevallo's scoring frenzy began in the 79
th minute with Farabaugh's second goal of the night before
Ayla Ertekin beat the keeper in the 81
st minute to push the lead out to 5-2. Cazale added another save in the 82
nd minute just before Farabaugh completed her hat trick to give UM at 6-2 advantage. The final goal of the night came off the foot of
Janelle Torres with the assist credited to
Hadley Rudolph to mark both freshmen's first career statistic and cap the Falcons' 7-2 victory.
