Falcons Close Regular Season with 3-1 Senior Night Win over UAH

MONTEVALLO, Ala. – The Montevallo volleyball team closed out the regular season in impressive fashion on Friday night, earning a 3-1 Senior Night victory over UAH inside Central State Bank Arena.

After UAH opened the night with a quick 4-1 lead, Montevallo responded in dominant fashion, using a 14-1 run to seize control at 15-6. Ellise Hanson delivered a pair of late kills to close out a commanding 25-12 first-set win.

The Chargers bounced back in the second. Following a stretch of back-and-forth points, UAH used a 5-1 run to move ahead 19-15. Montevallo trimmed the gap to two, but the Chargers held firm to take the frame 25-21 and even the match.

The third set belonged to the Falcons. Trailing 3-2, Montevallo exploded for 13 straight points behind a dominant service run from Eliza Tyrrell that featured four consecutive aces and six total during the stretch. UAH put together a brief rally, but UM closed out the set 25-18 to reclaim the match lead. Midway through the set, Danielle Greene also reached a significant career milestone, recording her 500th career kill.

The fourth set remained tight until the Falcons put together a 7-1 surge to go up 17-11. UAH fought back and cut the margin to just one three different times, but Montevallo held strong and finished the night with the final three points to secure a 25-21 win and the 3-1 match victory.

GAME NOTES

  • Danielle Greene reached the 500-kill milestone and finished with a team-high 11.
  • Eliza Tyrrell's third-set service run included four straight aces during the 13-0 run.
  • Montevallo now owns home wins over two of the top three teams in the GSC standings.
UP NEXT: Montevallo will host a First Round matchup of the GSC Championship on Tuesday night. First serve time and opponent will be announced on Saturday.
