MONTEVALLO, Ala. – The No. 5 seed Montevallo volleyball team advanced to Friday's Second Round of the GSC Tournament with a convincing sweep of No. 8 Mississippi College on Tuesday night inside Central State Bank Arena.

The visitors opened the match strong, taking an 8-3 lead and extending the advantage to six in the first set. Trailing 15-9, the Falcons responded with a pivotal 7-1 run to knot the frame at 16. A kill from Katie Wilkerson and a block by Wilkerson and Ellise Hanson moved UM in front, 21-19, before Montevallo closed with four of the final five points to claim the set, 25-21.

The second set remained tight until the midway point, when kills from Maggie McColley and Wilkerson, coupled with a Delaney Sisson ace, helped push the Falcons ahead 21-16. Leading 24-21, Montevallo capitalized on a service error to secure another 25-21 victory and a 2-0 match lead.

Montevallo came out firing in the third, responding to an early MC point with eight straight to seize control. The Falcons maintained the momentum throughout, stretching the lead to as many as 14. A brief 4-0 MC run late in the set was not enough, as McColley delivered the match-clinching kill to seal a 25-14 win and complete the sweep.
