MONTEVALLO, Ala. – Derek Moore and
Devon McKinnon combined for 48 of Montevallo's 94 points in a dominant win over Fisk in the Falcons' home opener on Monday night.
The game stayed tight in the opened five minutes with neither side taking more than a three-point lead to see the score tied at 9-9 at the 14:26 mark. Montevallo then went on an 8-2 run to take control with triples from
Tyson Sexton and
Devon McKinnon to put the Falcons up 17-11 midway through the first half. Fisk cut the lead down to two before
Bryant James stretched Montevallo's lead out to five with his first triple of the night with 8:41 on the clock.
Derek Moore capped a 7-0 UM run that put the Falcons up by 10 before McKinnon nailed back-to-back triples for the Falcons with just under three minutes in the half. Moore slammed one home in the final 10 seconds of the first half to send the game to the break with Montevallo leading 41-30.
In the first four minutes of the second half, Montevallo stretched its lead to 14 with threes from McKinnon and Moore before back-to-back jams from Moore gave Montevallo a 63-44 lead with 12:28 to go. McKinnon knocked one down from deep in transition at the 7:53 mark to give Montevallo its largest lead of the night at 79-49 with 7:03 on the clock. With two minutes to go in regulation, O'Niell Connolly scored five straight for the Falcons to break 90 points and give Montevallo a 26-point lead. A final trip to the free-throw line from Montevallo gave the Falcons its dominant 94-70 win in Montevallo's first game on the bricks.

- Freshman Devon McKinnon was money from deep with a 6-for-11 mark to score 22 points in his first game on the bricks.
- Brandon Fussell and Bryant James each tallied five assists while Fussell scored double-digits with 13 points.
