MONTEVALLO, Ala. – The Montevallo women's basketball is set to close the 2025 calendar year on Wednesday, hosting non-conference opponent-UT Southern inside of Central State Bank Arena.
Montevallo holds an overall record of 3-7 with a 2-4 mark in Gulf South Conference play. Last time out, the Falcons split a pair of GSC road contests, defeating Christian Brothers, 69-54, before falling to (RV) Union, 82-53, on Dec. 20.
Montevallo averages 57.2 points, while shooting 37.8-percent from the field and 28.1-percent from long range. Elyse Hughes leads the Falcons in scoring (11.5 ppg) and rebounding (6.6 rpg), while shooting 52.3-percent from the field. Emily Mouser has a team leading 38 assists, while tying for a team leading-12 steals with Kylee Norman.
UT Southern holds an overall record of 8-4 with a 3-3 mark in the Southern States Athletic Conference. The Firehawks last saw action on Tuesday, Dec. 16, where UTS earned a 79-65 victory over Mobile on Dec. 16.
UT Southern averages 70.8 points, while shooting 40.7-percent from the field and 27.7-percent from distance. Ashley Dickey leads the team in scoring (18.6 ppg), while Lauren Smith leads the team in rebounding (7.0 rpg). Silkiari Vazquez-Troche holds team leads in assists (90) and steals (38).
