MONTEVALLO, Ala. – Montevallo men's basketball closes the 2025 calendar year with a dominant 91-61 win over Point in the final nonconference game of the season.
Point jumped out to an early 10-3 lead in the first three minutes with a pair of triples before Montevallo used an 11-3 run with five points from
Tyson Sexton over the next three minutes to take a 14-13 lead at the 14:01 mark. The Falcons then extended the lead to 25-10 in just four minutes behind a pair of threes from
Sam Duskin and another from
Bryant James. A Point triple at the 9:05 mark ended an 11-0 Montevallo run but
Derek Moore and
O'Neill Connolly both finished inside to stretch the lead back to 13. Point cut the lead down to six at the 6:25 mark but a 13-2 Falcon run pushed the lead out to 44-27 with 3:36 to play. Montevallo outscored Point 9-5 in the final 3:36 to hold a 53-32 lead heading into the break.
The first nine points of the second half came from long range while James added his third three of the night to give Montevallo a 19-point advantage with 15:57 to go. A three from Fussell mark the third-consecutive three for UM to start the second half before a 2-for-2 trip to the stripe from Moore pushed the lead out to 68-42 at the 13:16 mark. Neither side scored from the floor for the next four minutes before James ended the scoreless stretch for the Falcons. At the 6:26 mark,
Miller Moody gave Montevallo its largest lead of the night at 81-51 with a finish at the rim. The final bucket of the night came off the right hand of
Luke Stephens in the final minute as Montevallo took a 91-61 win over Point on New Year's Eve.

- The Falcons took control inside with a whopping 50 points in the paint to just 22 from the Skyhawks.
- Montevallo won the battle on the boards with a 45-35 mark while adding 16 offensive boards to nine from Point.
- Derek Moore led Montevallo's offense with 17 points on 7-of-8 shooting while also picking up eight rebounds.
- Sam Duskin set a season-high with 16 points on 6-for-10 shooting and adding five rebounds and three steals.
- Brandon Fussell finish with 15 points on 6-for-15 from the floor with five boards and seven assists while adding five steals.
- Bryant James and Tyson Sexton both finished with 11 points to round out Montevallo's five double-digit scorers on the night.
