MONTEVALLO, Ala. – The Montevallo women's basketball team dropped its final contest of the 2025 calendar year, falling to UT Southern, 66-38, on Wednesday.
The Firehawks opened the game strong with the first nine points, before Kylee Norman scored the first Falcon point of the day at 5:56, as she knocked down one of two free throws. Elyse Hughes would score the lone UM field goal in the opening quarter, as UT Southern held a dominant, 21-3, edge after the end of one.
The Firehawks scored the first six points of the second quarter, before Jerrilyn Richardson knocked in a three-pointer at 8:01. Richardson added another lay-in a few minutes later, followed by a Norman triple, but the Firehawks stretched its lead out to, 35-11, with 3:12 left in the half. Hendrix and Norman knocked down triples in the next three minutes, but the Firehawks would take a, 41-17, advantage into the break.
The Firehawks opened the third quarter with the first five points, before Burdette knocked down a three-pointer at 6:37. Hughes added a pair of baskets and Emily Mouser cashed in on a jumper, but the Firehawks held a, 63-26, lead at the end of the third quarter.
Montevallo had a solid start to the fourth quarter, as Hughes and Richardson knocked down back-to-back baskets. Mouser, Alani Owens, and London Robinson added points down the stretch, as the Falcons outscored the Firehawks 8-3 throughout the rest of the contest. UT Southern ultimately took home the, 66-38, victory inside of Central State Bank Arena.
