NASHVILLE, Tenn. – Montevallo men's basketball took home a dominant 90-60 win over Trevecca Nazarene to close a two-game road trip to open the conference season.
Montevallo trailed for the first five minutes before taking its first lead of the night with a finish at the rim from
Brandon Fussell that gave Montevallo a 9-8 advantage. The Trojans tied the game at 11-11 at the 13:38 mark for the last tie of the game. Fussell added five-straight points for the Falcons to take a 16-11 lead before a 9-2 run over the next five minutes gave Montevallo a 25-16 lead after a
Devon McKinnon triple in transition. The Falcons added a trio of three-pointers before a trip to the stripe for
Derek Moore gave Montevallo a 20-point advantage. A pair of threes from Fussell and
Bryant James to end the half sent the game to the break with a 47-23 Montevallo lead.
A 10-2 Montevallo run in the first five minutes of the first half stretched Montevallo's lead out to 32 before a pair of free-throws from TNU ended the run.
Derek Moore scored six of Montevallo's next eight points before a triple from McKinnon with 10:17 to play gave Montevallo a 68-30 lead. With 6:17 to go,
Reese Gurner gave Montevallo its largest lead of the night at 47 points with a pair of free throws.
Devon McKinnon punctuated his 11-point night with Montevallo's final three-pointer at the 3:32 mark. A pair of free throws from
Luke Stephens gave Montevallo its third 90-point outing in the last four games and lifted Montevallo to its 90-60 win on the road.
