MONTEVALLO, Ala. – The Montevallo women's basketball team dropped a close contest on Saturday, falling to Auburn Montgomery, 62-58, inside of Central State Bank Arena.
Ramie Reid led the way, earning her second consecutive 22-point performance. Reid was efficient, shooting 8-of-10 from the floor.
Montevallo struck first, as

Ramie Reid for the first basket of the game. After an AUM lay-in, the Falcons went on a 7-0 run to take a, 9-2, lead at the 3:26 mark. The Warhawks hit a free throw to halt the run, but an
Aubrey Sorrells triple put the Falcons ahead, 12-3, with 2:14 left. The Warhawks ended the quarter with back-to-back baskets, as Montevallo held a, 12-7, advantage at the end of the first quarter.
The Warhawks opened the second quarter strong, using a 9-0 run to take a, 16-12, lead at the 7:21 mark. The Falcons responded with baskets from
Julia Susla and
Jerrilyn Richardson to tie the game, 16-16, at the 4:16 mark. After an AUM lay-in, the Falcons went on an 8-0 run, highlighted by three-pointers from
Anna Katherine Eastman and
Savannah Cook to put Montevallo ahead, 24-18, with 1:11 left. The Warhawks connected on a jumper in the final seconds, as the Falcons took a, 24-20, lead at the break.
Both teams traded baskets to start the second half, with UM's first field goal coming from Reid. The Warhawks scored a pair of baskets to tie the game, 26-26, at the 8:18 mark. Cook and Reid added baskets in the next minute, as UM led, 30-29, at the 6:57 mark. The Warhawks outscored the Falcons, 11-3 through the next three minutes, as AUM held a, 40-32, lead with 3:29 left. Ramie Reid went on a 6-0 run of her own to cut the deficit to, 40-38, at the 2:09 mark. AUM went on a run of its own, ending the third quarter on a 6-0 run to take a, 46-38, advantage into the final quarter.
Montevallo opened the fourth quarter with four consecutive points from Edwards and Reid, cutting the deficit to, 46-42, at the 9:05 mark. Sorrells scored a pair of baskets in the next minute, as AUM held a, 48-46, advantage at the 7:24 mark. AUM extended its lead to five before a Reid lay-in, cut the deficit to, 53-50, at the 4:50 mark.
Lia Edwards followed that up with a bucket from long range to tie the game at 53 with 2:53 left. Both teams traded a pair of baskets, as the game remained tied, 57-57 with 1:06 left. A crucial steal followed by an and-one put the Warhawks ahead 60-57 with six seconds left. Edwards connected on one more free throw, but AUM knocked down free throws in the final seconds to take home the 62-58 victory.
