SAINT LEO, Fla. – The University of Montevallo acrobatics and tumbling team falls to No. 13 Saint Leo on Saturday, Feb. 22 inside the Marion Bowman Activities Center. With the win, Saint Leo is now 1-0 while the Falcons are now 1-1.
The Falcons started off the meet with a 6.85 in the acro heat in the compulsory. Montevallo followed it up with a 9.40 in the pyramid heat, an 8.90 in the toss heat and a 7.30 in the tumbling for a total score of 32.45 for the compulsory. Saint Leo had a 9.0 or better in three out of the four heats in the compulsory as the Lions totaled 36.50.
The Lions posted strong numbers in the acro event as they had an 8.90 or above in all three heats. Montevallo scored their highest in the 5-element with an 8.90. The Falcons had a 7.55 and a 7.15 in the 6-element and 7-element. UM had a strong showing in the pyramid with an 8.50 in the inversion, an 8.70 in the synchronized and an impressive 9.50 in the open heat.
In the toss event, the Falcons scored a 24.60 compared the Saint Leo's 26.85. While the Lions scored more points in the tumbling event, Montevallo out-did the Saint Leo in the aerial pass 9.40 compared to SLU's 8.425. The Falcons garnered an 8.0 or more in the duo pass (8.10), the aerial pass (9.40), the 6-element pass (8.175) and the open pass (8.475).
In the team event, Montevallo scored a season-high of 85.44. They narrowly lost the event as Saint Leo scored an 86.27.

The Falcons will now return home as they take on the Mars Hill Lions for their first home meet in program history. The meet is set to take place inside Central State Bank Arena on Friday, Mar. 7 at 5:30 p.m. CT.
