MONTEVALLO, Ala. – The No. 17 ranked University of Montevallo baseball team is ready to take on the Trevecca Nazarene Trojans in three-game Gulf South Conference series. The teams will play a single game on Friday, Feb. 28 at 2:00 p.m. CT and a double-header on Saturday, Mar. 1 with the first game starting at 12:00 p.m. CT at Jackson Field.

In their previous game, the Falcons fell on the road to Georgia Southwestern by a score of 9-16. The 16 runs given up are the most allowed by the Falcons in a game this season.
Connor Crowson led UM with a three hit effort while

Montevallo will roll out
Adiel Melendez,
Gino Cozzi and
Seth Gurr in this weekend's series against Trevecca. The trio has allowed 10 earned runs or less this season and the staff is tied for the most strikeouts in the GSC with 123. Melendez and Cozzi are top-10 in the conference for the least amount of hits allowed. Gurr is tied for fourth in the Gulf South with the least number of walks allowed with four. Montevallo pitchers have combined for the third lowest batting average against at .256.
The Falcon offense continues their historic start to the season as they hit six home runs in their past GSC series against Mississippi College. With four homers in game one against MC, it was their eighth game in 2025 where they hit multi-homers in a game. With a two-homer game against Tuskegee and two long balls against Mississippi College, Crowson is now third in Division II with 8 home runs. He is first in the GSC with 25 hits, third with a 1.205 OPS, first with a .788 slugging percentage and first in total bases with 52.
McGwire Turner has 12 hits in his last 7 games played. Turner has also blasted 4 homers in his last 10 games. He is tied for third in the conference in homers and is tied for sixth with 21 hits.
On Friday, it will be the Falcons 17
th meeting against the Trojans in their series history. Montevallo leads the all-time series 11-5. UM defeated Trevecca in their previous series match up in 2020 two games to one. This will be the first time the two will match up as members of the Gulf South Conference.
Scouting Trevecca Nazarene
The Trojans come in with a 4-9 record including 2-4 in GSC play. Trevecca was run-ruled in their most recent game against Lincoln Memorial, 5-15. In their latest GSC series, they were swept by Valdosta State on the road. In those games, they have averaged three runs a game and allowed eighth runs a game.
As a team, they are third in the Gulf South with a .291 batting average, are tied for fifth with 12 homers and are fifth with a team slugging percentage of .430. Joey Parliment leads the team and is seventh in the GSC with a batting average of .407. His 22 hits are fifth in the conference while he adds two homers and nine RBI. Parliament has six multi-hit games including two four hit efforts. Luke Dymond leads the team with 15 RBI. Dymond had a seven RBI game this season against Charleston.
On the bump, Jonah Smithson is tied for sixth in the conference with 20 strikeouts. As a team, they have the eighth highest ERA in the GSC at 7.36. They have the third lowest number of strikeouts with 84.
