JACKSON, Tenn. – The Montevallo women's basketball team fell to No. 17 Union, 106-68, on Thursday evening.

Elisa Saffold led the way with 18 points, while Ramie Reid scored a season-high 16, and Aubrey Sorrells added 12.

The Lady Bulldogs opened the game with back-to-back triples before Savannah Cook responded with a shot from long range for UM. Union continued to hit from deep, draining two more three-pointers, as Union held a, 12-3, advantage, at the 6:42 mark. Sorrells and Reid scored lay-ins in the next two minutes, as the Lady Bulldogs led, 18-9, at the 4:12 mark. After pushing the lead out to double digits, an Elisa Saffold triple followed by a Reid lay-in cut the deficit to six, 21-15, with 2:01 left. Reid added a pair of jumpers in the final two minutes, but the Lady Bulldogs stretched the lead back out to double digits, 29-19 at the end of the first quarter.

Montevallo opened the second quarter with back-to-back buckets from Saffold and Sorrells, cutting the deficit back to six, 29-23, at the 8:33 mark. Saffold added a jumper and Sorrells added a pair of free throws a minute later, as Union led, 33-27, with 7:43 left. The Lady Bulldogs began to break away, building a 9-0 run to pull ahead, 42-27, at the 4:45 mark. Reid halted the run with a pair of free throws and Saffold added a jumper a minute later, as the Lady Bulldogs held a, 46-32, advantage with 3:05 left. Julia Susla added one more bucket for the Falcons in the final three minutes, as Union took a, 51-34, lead at the break.

Cook opened the second half scoring, draining a triple in the opening seconds. Union responded with six in a row, before Lia Edwards connected from distance, as Union led, 57-40, at the 8:25 mark. The Lady Bulldogs continued to push, using a 10-0 run to take a, 67-40, lead at the 5:58 mark. Reid, Sorrells, and MaKayla Gordon provided buckets in the next two minutes, but the Lady Bulldogs continued stretch the lead, pulling ahead, 75-46, with 3:12 left. Union outscored Montevallo 16-4 through the remainder of the third to take a, 91-50, advantage going into the fourth.

Union opened the fourth quarter with the first eight points, before Anna Katherine Eastman responded with a triple. Edwards added a jumper, as Union held a, 99-55, advantage at the 5:16 mark. The Falcons continued to fight, outscoring the Lady Bulldogs, 13-7 in the final five minutes, but Union ultimately took home the 106-68 victory.
