Falcons See 24 Players Record Points in 27-4 Win

MONTEVALLO, Ala. – Montevallo men's lacrosse saw 24 players record a point in the Falcons 27-4 win over Emory & Henry on Friday afternoon.
 
Montevallo's Michael Howkins opened the scoring in the first 43 seconds before Jacob Obee lifted Montevallo to a 2-0 lead with 13:29 on the clock. Christopher Humphrey, Zach Reed and Obee score three Montevallo goals in quick succession to give Montevallo a 5-0 lead just five minutes into the game. With 7:50 on the clock, John Spaans tallied his first of four goals on an unassisted effort before John Morris scored his first goal of the season for a 7-0 UM advantage. Junior attacker Matthew Boas scored back-to-back Falcon goals before Spaans tallied a first-quarter hat trick with a pair of goals just 23 seconds apart. E&H finally got on the board in the final three minutes before Adam Bryant's first goal of the day gave the Falcons a 12-1 lead heading into the second.
 
Miller opened the second-quarter scoring at the 13:16 mark before the Wasps cut Montevallo's lead to 13-2 with 11:37 left in the half. A few minutes later, Miller scored a third goal just 37 seconds before Devin Virk's first-career goal at the 6:49 mark. Virk extended Montevallo's advantage to 16-2 with five minutes left in the half. The Falcons scored two more goals to close the half and head into the locker room with an 18-2 lead.
 
Out of the break, Montevallo's Clifton Tullar scored his first goal of the season just 45 seconds in. Brett Bilodeau scored the Falcons' 20th goal of the night ahead of a man-up goal from Spaans to set a new career-high for the transfer and extend the lead to 21-2. With 7:38 left in the third, Will Holland tallied his first goal of the season before Jonah Brooking gave Montevallo a 20 goal lead. In the closing seconds of the quarter, Brooking gave the Falcons a 24-3 lead with his second goal of the quarter.
 
Brooking completed his hat trick with the opening goal of the fourth period before Matthew Egorshin's first-career goal gave Montevallo a 26-3 lead at the 13:20 mark. Morgan Trites found the back of the net just under a minute later for the Falcons' final goal of the day. With 2:02 on the clock, E&H scored to make the final score 27-4 and give the Falcons a 3-0 start to the season.

  • The Falcons tallied a 31-35 mark on faceoffs while going 12-for-15 in clears.
  • John Spaans led the way with four goals while Jonah Brooking tallied three goals and five ground balls.
  • Michael Howkins led Montevallo with five assists while adding a goal for a team-high six points.
