COLUMBUS, Ga. – The Montevallo men's tennis team fell to Columbus State 7-0 on Saturday.
The Cougars swept doubles play, despite valiant efforts at the No. 2 and No. 3 matches.
Paul Sobich and
Simon Luigs battled at the No. 2 spot, but ultimately fell 7-6, while
Leonidas Lazarides and
Samuel Maia fell 6-4, at the No. 3 spot.
The Cougars went on to sweep singles play, securing the 7-0 overall win.
Guilherme Gracioli battled at the No. 3 singles match, forcing three sets, but ultimately falling 2-6, 6-4, 10-5. After losing the first set 6-1,
Gabriel Variano fell in a tightly contested second set, 7-5 at the No. 4 spot.
Montevallo returns to action on Tuesday, March 4, with a GSC-match against Mississippi College in Clinton, Miss.
