MONTEVALLO, Ala. – Montevallo baseball fell to West Alabama, 8-7, in Sunday's series finale to drop the Falcons to 7-8 in Gulf South Conference play and 13-13 overall.
A sacrifice fly in the top of the first from West Alabama opened the day's scoring before Montevallo starter
Gino Cozzi retired the following batters to end the top of the inning. With two on and just one out,
Evan Radford doubled into the left-center to score
Jacob Pearl and tie the game before an RBI from
Logan Harbin put the Falcons on top 2-1.
The Tigers scratched across another run in the top of the second before Montevallo's bats exploded in the bottom half. With the bases loaded and two outs on the board,
Connor Crowson added his second hit of the day to score a pair of Falcon runs. In the following at bat, Radford added a pair of RBI with a single to center to give Montevallo a 6-2 lead. Radford was brought home on a Harbin single to give Montevallo 5 runs in three at-bats and a 7-2 lead.
Mason Creacy took the mound in the top of the fourth and put together a strong relief performance throwing 2.2 scoreless innings with just two hits allowed to get the Falcons to the top of the seventh with a 7-3 lead.
The Tigers bats came alive in the eighth to score three runs on a pair of hits that sliced Montevallo's lead down to one heading to the final frame. West Alabama plated two runs in the top of the ninth before a hitless bottom half of the inning left Montevallo with an 8-7 loss.

- Evan Radford was responsible for a trio of Montevallo runs on a 2-for-4 mark at the plate. His three RBI tie a season high for the junior.
