MONTEVALLO, Ala. – Montevallo men's lacrosse improved to 7-2 on the season after a 22-11 home win over William Jewell in the third game this season that saw 20 or more UM goals.
The Falcons drew first blood with a
Matthew Boas goal just over a minute into the contest before the Cardinals evened the score with 12:06 on the clock. Boas pushed the Falcons back out in front at the 11:35 mark before an unassisted
Jetty Miller goal gave Montevallo a 3-1 lead. Junior goalkeeper
Alex Egorshin tallied his first save of the day at the 7:15 mark ahead of the second WJC goal of the afternoon. Egorshin tallied another pair of saves to keep the Falcons on top, 3-2, heading into the second.
Freshman midfielder
Aaron Tichonoff extended Montevallo's advantage with the first goal of the second quarter. With 8:55 left in the half, WJC brought themselves back within one before
Marley Straker flipped a penalty kill for the Falcons to give UM a 5-3 lead.
William Angus added a second man-down goal just 16 seconds later to give Montevallo a 7-3 lead. The Cardinals ended the half with three unanswered goals to cut the lead down to one heading into the break.

John Spaans gave the Falcons some breathing room before
Nick Givens' first of the day pushed UM out in front 9-6. Following a WJC goal, Boas scored back-to-back goals to stretch the lead out to four at the 10:05 mark. Givens added his second goal in the third quarter to give Montevallo a 12-7 advantage. With 5:41 left in the third,
Ryan Andrews found the back of the net off a Boas assist before Miller lifted the Falcons to a 14-7 lead with 4:11 left. WJC added a goal with just 1:45 on the clock to send the game to the fourth with Montevallo leading 14-8.
Boas tallied a pair of goals in just the first 33 seconds of the final stanza for his fifth and sixth goals of the day before Tichonoff gave UM a 17-8 lead with 12:24 to play.
Dalton Green's first goal of the season came with 12:08 left in the fourth before Boas' seventh goal of the day gave Montevallo a 19-8 lead. The Cardinals scored three unanswered goals for the second time in the game to trim the lead down to 19-11 with 5:22 to play. With just four seconds to play,
Devin Virk beat the keeper for his first goal of 2025 to give Montevallo its 22-11 Sunday win.
