About Montevallo
The Falcons are coming off a game against Miles where they blasted a season-high of six long balls on Wednesday. Payton Stephenson, Zac Carlisle, Dominic Maldet and Easton Kleyn hit their first home runs of 2025 while McGwire Turner and Riley Thuringer hit their fifth and third round trippers of the season.

Adiel Melendez has proved he is one of the top arms in the GSC this season. Melendez is seeking his fifth consecutive start of six or more innings. In his previous start against West Alabama, he notched a career-high nine strikeouts as he only allowed four hits and no runs. He's only had two starts away from home this season, but in those starts he has gone 12 innings with 12 strikeouts.

The Falcons have only played eight games away from home this season where they are 4-4. Of Montevallo's 37 homers hit this season, only three have come in opposing ballparks. In Valdosta, the Falcons are 9-20 in their program history including 5-5 in their last 10 games at VSU. The Blazers have done a nice job of protecting their home field as they are 8-1 in their last nine games at Billy Grant Field. In those nine games, VSU has had double-digit hits in seven of them.

Scouting Valdosta State
The Blazers come in with a 15-12 record and a 10-4 record inside GSC play. VSU is currently in third halfway through the conference slate. They have two games in a row as they defeated No. 12 Delta State 7-5 in the third game of their GSC series and Columbus State 10-4 in their midweek match up on Tuesday.

The Blazer offense is second in the GSC behind Montevallo with a .302 batting average while they lead the league with 51 doubles and 180 RBI. They currently have six batters hitting over .320. Orlando Pena leads the team with nine homers and 35 RBI. He leads the conference in RBI and is tied with Connor Crowson for first in home runs. Pena has four multi-hit games in his seven contests, he has eight RBI in that stretch.

Zac Dodson will lead the Blazers on the bump as he will come into his eighth start of the season with a 3.83 ERA in 40 innings pitched. Dodson has struck out 30 batters and has only walked 12. Ryan Brown has been great out of the bullpen as he has nine appearances, two saves and six scoreless outings. In 14 innings, Brown has a 1.93 ERA and a 1.14 WHIP.
