MONTEVALLO, Ala. – The University of Montevallo baseball team is geared up for their midweek road test against the Emmanuel University Lions on Wednesday, Mar. 26 at Tommy Carey Baseball Field in Franklin Springs, Ga.
Last Time Out
The team is coming off an impressive road Gulf South Conference series against Valdosta State where they defeated the Blazers in game one and two. Montevallo won by scores of 4-2 and 2-1, but dropped game three 1-12.

About Montevallo
With hits in every game this weekend,
McGwire Turner now has an on base streak of 30 games. It is tied for the sixth highest streak in program history (the longest being 42 consecutive games). Along with the on base streak, Turner has a 22-game hitting streak. He has a hit in every game this season except one (Game One, Feb. 14 against West Florida).
The East Mississippi CC transfer,
Evan Radford, has been sizzling at the plate in his last five games. In those games, Radford has eight hits, six runs scored, six RBI, three doubles and two home runs. He is second on the team with seven homers, 71 total bases and is tied with
Connor Crowson with the most doubles on the team (9).
Zach Wyatt will take the ball for the Falcons against the Lions. Wyatt has thrown back-to-back scoreless outings where he threw dominant 1-2-3 innings. He will look to keep his momentum going as he draws his fifth start of the season against Emmanuel. Wyatt makes batters earn their way on as he's only walked four this season in 85 batters faced. He's had success in midweek starts including a three-inning outing against Tuskegee where he struck out four and only allowed one hit.
With two saves this weekend,
Garrett Sloan now has nine saves on the season which is tied for second in Montevallo's single-season saves leader board. Sloan has six appearances without an earned run, six outings without a walk, three outings where he didn't allow a hit and has eight 1-2-3 innings under his belt in 2025.
Scouting Emmanuel
For the first time in program history, the Falcons will take on the Emmanuel Lions. The two teams have never meet before. The Lions are 14-17 on the season and 7-11 inside Conference Carolinas play. EC is on a three-game winning streak and is coming off a sweep of King University where they swept the Tornado while scoring 10 or more runs in every game.
Landon Mokris leads Emmanuel with a .339 batting average 11 doubles, eight homers and 36 RBI. Brock Wollin has 10 doubles, five homers and 42 RBI. As a team they are batting .286 and have driven in 232 runs this season.
In midweeks this season, Emmanuel is 2-5. As a pitching staff, they have a team ERA of 7.81. J.J Neal has the most appearances for the Lions on the mound this season and he has pitched nine innings and has struck out five.
