AUGUSTA, Ga. - The Montevallo men's tennis team battled hard but came up short against Augusta, falling 2-5 at the Newman Tennis Center.
The Falcons started strong in doubles, with Dylan Kamel and Luiz Brandao securing a 6-3 win at the No. 1 spot. However, Augusta responded by taking the next two doubles matches to claim the doubles point.
In singles, Paul Sobich and Guilherme Gracioli led Montevallo with gritty three-set victories. Sobich rallied to defeat Enzo Garutti 3-6, 6-3, 6-3, while Gracioli outlasted Alexis Bailhache 4-6, 6-4, 6-3. Despite their efforts, Augusta controlled the remaining singles matches, clinching the team victory.
Montevallo now sits at 6-6 on the season and will look to bounce back in their next match.
