MONTEVALLO, ALA - The Montevallo women's tennis team battled until the final point but came up just short in a narrow 3-4 loss to Auburn University at Montgomery (AUM) on Saturday afternoon at the Tennis Court Complex.

The Falcons dropped the doubles point despite a strong effort from London Breedlove and Elena Ondobo, who earned a 6-4 win at No. 3 doubles. AUM secured victories at the top two doubles spots to take the early lead, winning 6-0 on both courts.

In singles, Montevallo showed grit with three hard-fought victories. Klara Podskubkova rallied back from a set down to claim a dramatic 4-6, 6-2, 6-1 win at the top singles position. Johanna Kullman added a straight-set victory at No. 4 singles, taking down her opponent 6-3, 6-4. Breedlove pushed her match to a tiebreaker in the second set to win in a tightly contested 6-7, 7-6 finish at No. 6.

Despite their efforts, AUM clinched the match with wins at the No. 2, 3, and 5 singles spots, capitalizing on key moments in close sets.

The Falcons now turn their attention to postseason play, looking to carry the momentum from their competitive performances.
