MONTEVALLO, Ala. - The University of Montevallo Department of Athletics is pleased to announce the recipients of the 10
th annual Falcon Cup, recognizing student-athletes for their achievements in their field of play, sportsmanship, team spirit, community service and academic excellence.
The 2025 Falcon Cup features one new winner and a back-to-back recipient.
Women's Soccer earned the honor on the women's side for the second consecutive year and Men's Basketball won the men's side for the first time in program history. This is the fourth year the awards have been split and given to the highest-earning men's team and highest-earning women's team.
The Falcon Cup is awarded to the team that excels best in academics, community service, and student-athlete game attendance during the academic year. The award also takes into consideration the team's overall record for the season, post-season record, and record against in-state opponents.
Women's Soccer earned the honor for the second consecutive time in the awards' 10-year history after compiling successful campaigns on the field and in the classroom this year; including a trip to the NCAA Division II Sweet 16.
The Men's Basketball team earned the Falcon Cup award for the first time and is just the fourth men's team to win alongside men's soccer in 2022, baseball in 2023 and men's lacrosse in 2024.
Women's Soccer finished with 818 total points in the standings following a 14-6-3 record, a Gulf South Conference Championships final appearance, a NCAA South Region at-large berth (first in program history), NCAA Division II Sweet 16 appearance, a 3.6 GPA for the year and over nine community service hours per student.
Men's Basketball totaled 743 points in the standings as the team finished with a 20-11 record, advanced to the Gulf South Conference Tournament Semifinals, was selected to the NCAA South Region tournament, posted 3.49 GPA for the year and totaled over 150 community service hours.
The Women's Soccer team was a perfect 3-0 in the Win the State games this year while Men's Basketball posted four Win-the-State victories.
Softball finished second on the women's side with 744 points while Baseball finished second on the men's side with 604 points.
Next year's Falcon Cup starts in the fall 2025 semester with academics, competition, community service, "Win the State" games and supporting fellow student-athletes.
