Montevallo Improved to 4-0 in GSC Play with 2-0 Win Over UAH

MONTEVALLO, Ala. – Montevallo women's soccer continued its hot start to conference play with a 2-0 win over Alabama Huntsville on Saturday night.

Montevallo was on the back foot early with a dangerous chance from the Chargers but kept UAH out of goal. In the fifth minute, Bear Bradbury fired the first shot on goal of the night but was denied by the keeper. In the 23rd minute, junior Isabel Dillehay added another UM shot on frame before freshman Ayla Ertekin added her first of the game in the 27th minute. The game evolved into a battle for possession for the next 15 minutes before Katelynn Kott nearly beat the keeper in the 41st minute. The game then went to the half with both sides locked in a 0-0 tie.

The Chargers looked to score early in the second with a shot on goal in the 49th minute but a sure handed save from Ciara Duff kept the game tied. Just four minutes later, Ertekin found the back of the net in a scrum off a corner to give Montevallo a 1-0 lead. Less than a minute later, Lainey Farabaugh extended the Falcons' lead on a breakaway chance with the assist credited to Morgan Goehring. UM would add another shot on goal in the 75th minute before the Chargers were denied a goal off another save from Duff. In the final minute, Goehring nearly extended the lead to three goals but a UAH save left the Falcons with a 2-0 win.
