EMORY, Va. – The Montevallo wrestling team cruised to a pair of conference dual wins on Tuesday, earning a 41-4 victory over Bluefield State before recording the largest margin of victory in program history with a 56-0 shutout of host Emory & Henry.
Dual One: Bluefield State (W, 41-4)
The Falcons jumped out to an early lead as NWCA No. 7
Cole Hunt earned an 11-2 major decision over Larry Rhodes at 125 pounds. Freshman
Joseph Sowell followed with an 18-2 technical fall over Luke Roberts at 133, and
Kaden Brown added a forfeit victory at 141. No. 15
Max Stedeford kept the momentum going with a 12-7 decision at 149.
Carson Freeman notched the first fall of the night, pinning Oluwajuwon Omotoso in 2:10 at 157 pounds to extend Montevallo's lead to 24-0. Bluefield State's lone win came at 165, but Aiden Knight quickly got the Falcons back on track with an 8-1 decision over Thomas Dolo. Jeffery Tubbs secured an 18-1 tech fall at 184, Cole Sykes earned a forfeit at 197, and Willie Cox closed the dual with a 4-1 sudden victory at 285, giving Montevallo a 41-4 triumph.
Dual Two: Emory & Henry (W, 56-0)
The Falcons dominated the second dual of the night, racing to an early 12-0 lead after Hunt and Sowell both won by forfeit at 125 and 133 pounds. Brown added a 1:04 fall over Gavin Warner at 141, followed by Stedeford's 17-2 technical fall over Isaac Hensley at 149. Freeman earned Montevallo's third forfeit of the dual.
Jake Chisolm secured an 8-7 decision over Sebastian Gabbarete at 165, pushing the Falcons' lead to 32-0. Knight (174) and Tubbs (184) both recorded pins, Sykes again won via forfeit at 197, and Cox finished the night with a 1:13 pin over Daniel Silver at 285. Montevallo's 56-0 win marked the program's largest dual-point total and biggest margin of victory in school history.
