PENSACOLA, Fla. – In a 97-87 win over West Florida, Montevallo forward Derek Moore set a pair of Montevallo records with 51 points on a 20-for-22 mark from the stripe.
 
Montevallo opened the game with a 9-2 lead in the first two minutes with six points from Moore in the early going. The Falcons would stretch its lead out to nine, but the Argos would battle back to take a 21-20 lead at the 10:32 mark. With a 10-1 run, the Falcons would stretch its advantage to double digits after a pair of free throws from Brandon Fussell to make the score 32-22. With less than two minutes to go in the first half, West Florida would tie the game at 41-41 before stretching its lead to 46-41 at the end of a 16-2 run. Sam Duskin knocked down a triple with 31 seconds on the clock to send the game to the half with a 46-44 UWF lead and Moore scoring 22 points in the first 20 minutes.
 
Moore scored eight of Montevallo's first 14 points of the second half as Montevallo regained control with a 60-56 lead. After a pair of threes from Fussell and Tyson Sexton, Montevallo added to a 70-61 lead with 11:13 to go. Moore would add four straight makes from the stripe to give Montevallo a 12-point lead with 9:27 left. Fussell would end a 2:34 stretch without a Montevallo field goal before Moore scored his 42^nd point of the night with a finish inside at the 4:09 mark. With 1:30 left on the clock, Moore knocked down a free throw that put him one point off the Montevallo single game record at 49 with Montevallo on top 91-83. With 34 second left on the clock, Derek Moore made the first of two free throws to tie the record of 50 points before setting a new record with a second make from the stripe that also tied the Montevallo record for free-throw makes in a single game.

• Derek Moore's 51 points broke Montevallo's single game program record set by Braxton Bertolotte in the 2022-23 and tied by Brandon Fussel in the 2023-24 while his 20 makes at the stripe tied Bertolette set on Feb. 24, 2023.
• Brandon Fussell finished with 20 points on 7-for-15 shooting with four rebounds and four assists.
• Montevallo shot an impressive 54.4 percent from the floor while adding an 8-for-16 mark from three-point range and an 87.1-percent mark from the free throw line.
• The Falcons dominated on the glass taking a 34-21 advantage in rebounds with 11 offensive boards to four from the Argos.
• Montevallo took a 44-28 lead in points in the paint with 20 points scored off 12 Argo turnovers.
