Falcons Open Season With 21-6 Win Over Emmanuel on the Road

FRANKLIN SPRINGS, Ga. – Montevallo men's lacrosse opened the season with a dominant 21-6 win over Emmanuel on the road on Friday afternoon.
 
Matthew Boas opened the game's scoring at the 12:32 mark on an unassisted effort to give UM a 1-0 lead early. Senior goalkeeper Alex Egorshin tallied his first save of the day at the 11:06 mark before Conlan Creamer gave UM a 2-0 lead with 9:09 on the clock. Boas had a hand in the next two Montevallo goals, scoring at the 7:04 mark before assisting on Lucas Mullen's first Falcon goal to put UM up 4-0. Jetty Miller got in on the scoring at the 5:46 mark to give the Falcons a five-goal advantage before Boas completed an early hat trick to give UM a 6-0 lead. In the closing seconds of the first, Mullen scored his second goal of the day to send the game to the second with Montevallo leading 7-0.
 
Sam Martin and Mullen opened the second-quarter scoring with a pair of quick goals to extend the Falcons' lead out to 9-0 with 11:56 left before the half. Boas tallied his fourth of the day at the 9:31 mark of the second before adding a fifth with 8:37 on the clock to put the Falcons up 11-0. Emmanuel finally got on the board with 6:12 remaining before the half to make the score 12-1. Egorshin closed the half with another save to head into the break with Falcons leading by 11.
 
Miller tallied the first goal of the second half just over 30 second into the third before Egorshin added back-to-back saves around the 13-minute mark. Daniel O'Leary and Conlan Creamer pushed UM's lead to 15-1 with just under 10 minutes left in the third. Caden Chalut took advantage of a man-up chance for Montevallo to mark the score 16-1 with 8:59 on the clock. Emmanuel ended the Falcons' run with their second goal of the day before Kale Smith and Morgan Trites scored back-to-back for UM. Emmanuel scored the final goal of the third to bring the score to 18-3 heading into the fourth.
 
In the fourth, Boas tallied his sixth of the day with Mullen credited with the assist to give UM a 19-3 lead. Emmanuel added its fourth goal of the day at the 12:03 mark before Hudson Haire scored his first of the season to give UM a 20-4 advantage with 11:34 to go. The Lions scored a pair of unanswered goals before Haire scored in the final minute to give the Falcons' a 21-6 win on the road to open the season.
