Box Score DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. – Montevallo men's lacrosse dropped a road matchup at RV Embry-Riddle, 11-4, on Friday afternoon.
The Falcons fired a pair of shots on goal to open the game but were denied each time. Alec Egorshin tallied his first save of the day at the 8:31 mark of the first quarter before Embry-Riddle scored three goals in just under two minutes of action to take a 3-0 lead with 4:35 left in the first.
Nick Gaca and
Lucas Mullen each looked to score with shots on goal but both shots were turned aside to leave Montevallo trailing after the first 15 minutes.
Egorshin tallied three saves in the first five minutes of the second quarter but the Eagles would stretch their lead to 4-0 at the 7:38 mark of the second. On a counterattack sparked by another Egorshin save,
Michael Howkins scored on an assist from
Matthew Boas to break the ice for Montevallo and trim the lead down to three with 6:39 left before the half. ERAU answered with a goal of their own to head into the half with a 5-1 lead over Montevallo.
Embry-Riddle open the half with a pair of quick goals to extend its lead to 7-1 at the 10:43 mark. Montevallo fired a total of three shots on goal in final 11 minutes of the third while Egorshin picked up another four saves to close the quarter with the Falcons trailing by six.
At the 13:25 mark of the fourth,
Ryan Andrews tallied the second goal for the Falcons to trim the lead down to 7-2. Howkins tallied his second goal of the afternoon on an assists from
John Morris to bring the Falcons within four at the 11:45 mark. Embry-Riddle would answer with a goal with just 8:35 left before
Cameron Diehl scored on an unassisted effort to make the score 8-4 with 7:42 to play. The Eagles scored three unanswered to close the game and take an 11-4 win over Montevallo.
