MONTEVALLO, Ala. – The Montevallo wrestling team opened the 2026 portion of its dual schedule in emphatic fashion Tuesday night, cruising past Emmanuel 38-4 on Senior Night and Pack the SAC Night inside Central State Bank Arena.
The night began with a marquee matchup at 125 pounds, where NWCA No. 7 Cole Hunt earned an 8-5 decision over No. 10 Braydon Mitchell in a top-10 showdown, marking Hunt's second victory over Mitchell this season. Freshman Joseph Sowell followed with an 8-2 decision, securing his first career dual win.
At 141 pounds, Kaden Brown recorded the first of two Falcon major decisions, defeating Isiah Davis 8-0. NWCA No. 15 Max Stedeford continued the momentum at 149, earning his ninth fall of the 2025-26 campaign with a pin of Isaac Piatek at the 4:15 mark to give Montevallo a 16-0 lead.
Carson Freeman delivered a 19-4 technical fall over Christian Gordon, while Jake Chisolm made his home debut this season count with a 16-0 technical fall of Nate Stratton in just 3:16.
Senior Jeffery Tubbs put together a dominant performance on his special night, cruising to a 21-5 technical fall over Josue Mendoza at 184. Cole Sykes added to the Falcons' tally at 197 with a 16-3 major decision against Anthony Olea.
Willie Cox capped the evening with a gritty 2-1 decision over Kobe Pablo at 285, avenging a loss to Pablo from last month's Midwest Classic.
With the win, Montevallo improves to 5-1 in dual action this season and carries a four-dual winning streak into the second half of the conference schedule.
