Montevallo Moves to 12-2-1 Overall After 3-1 Win Over Union

MONTEVALLO, Ala. – Montevallo women's soccer's final Gulf South Conference game on Varsity Field saw the Falcons take a 3-1 win over Union on Saturday evening.

In the first five minutes of action, Ayla Ertekin put the Falcons up by a goal off an assist from Janelle Torres. Over the next eight minutes, Lainey Farabaugh tested the Lady Bulldog keeper twice but was turned aside each time. Graduate keeper Jolie Cazale tallied her first save of the night in the 31st minute before adding a second just six minutes later to keep Union scoreless. Katelynn Kott looked to extend Montevallo's advantage late in the first half with back-to-back shots on goal, but a pair of Union saves kept the score 1-0 heading into the break.

Out of the break, Isabel Dillehay put another UM shot on goal in the first two minutes before Union knotted the score at 1-1 in the 53rd minute. On the ensuing Montevallo possession, Ertekin assisted on Karsyn Ross's fifth goal of the season to regain Montevallo's lead at 2-1. After another UM shot on frame from Batie Casey, Farabaugh gave Montevallo a 3-1 lead in the 80th minute. Cazale added a pair of save in the final five minutes of the game to secure Montevallo's 3-1 win and improve the Falcons to 8-1-1 with one game left on the conference schedule.
