BIRMINGHAM, Ala. –
Zach Wyatt of the Montevallo baseball team has been named the Gulf South Conference Pitcher of the Week, the league office announced Tuesday.
Wyatt turned in a dominant performance in the Falcons' 9-0 victory over No. 8 West Florida on Friday. The Pelham, Ala., native scattered four hits across a career-high 7.0 shutout innings, striking out six while keeping the Argos' lineup off balance throughout the series opener.
Through three starts this season, Wyatt is 2-1 with a 3.78 ERA. In 16.2 innings pitched, he has struck out a team-leading 18 batters and owns a 1.44 WHIP.

Wyatt and the Falcons return to action this afternoon against Tuskegee. First pitch from Kermit A. Johnson Field is set for 2:00 p.m.
