MONTEVALLO, Ala. –
Zach Wyatt of the Montevallo baseball team has been named the National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association (NCBWA) South Region Pitcher of the Week, the organization announced Wednesday.
Wyatt earned the regional honor following a dominant outing in the Falcons' 9-0 victory over No. 8 West Florida last Friday. The Pelham, Ala., native scattered four hits across a career-high 7.0 shutout innings while striking out six. His performance helped secure a key early-season victory for the Falcons against a nationally ranked opponent.
Through three starts this season, Wyatt holds a 2-1 record with a 3.78 ERA. In 16.2 innings pitched, he has struck out a team-leading 18 batters, continuing to establish himself as a key piece of Montevallo's weekend rotation.
