Baseball Continues Conference Slate at Mississippi College

MONTEVALLO, Ala. – The Montevallo baseball team returns to Gulf South Conference play this weekend with a three-game road series at Mississippi College. The series opens Friday with a doubleheader beginning at 2 p.m., followed by Saturday's finale at noon at Frierson Field.

Montevallo looks to build momentum after an 11-1 run-rule victory over Tuskegee on Tuesday. The Falcons plated five runs in the second inning and added three more in the fourth to pull away. Jack Fitzgerald paced the offense with two hits and four RBI, highlighted by a double and his fourth home run of the season. Bodie Vail earned the win in his first start and appearance on the mound for Montevallo.

Mississippi College enters the weekend at 4-8 overall and 0-3 in GSC play after being swept by West Alabama. The Choctaws also dropped an 8-5 on Tuesday to Henderson State.
At the plate, Tyler Sanderson leads MC with a .310 batting average, adding three doubles, one home run and eight RBI. Senior Alex Johnson provides power in the middle of the lineup with three home runs. As a team, Mississippi College is hitting .226 on the year.

On the mound, the Choctaws carry a 5.67 team ERA and 1.60 WHIP. Opponents are batting .269 against MC pitching with 21 doubles, three triples, and five home runs. Righthander Caleb Peterson (0-2, 4.70 ERA) is expected to start Friday's opener, followed by Cooper Cooksey (0-1, 4.50 ERA) in the nightcap. Righty Coby Gollott (1-1, 2.08 ERA) is slated to take the ball in Saturday's finale.
