Falcons Fall to Chargers in Final Road Game

HUNTSVILLE, Ala. – The Montevallo women's basketball team fell to UAH, 85-52, inside of SportsMED Arena at Spragins Hall on Saturday afternoon.

Three Falcons reached double figures in Shalexia Little, Elyse Hughes, and Kylee Norman, each leading the way with 11 points.

The Chargers started strong, jumping out to an, 8-1, advantage. Montevallo responded with an Emily Mouser steal and score, followed by a jumper from Elyse Hughes. The Chargers hit back-to-back triples, before Carlyn Burdette cashed in on a jumper, as UAH led, 14-7, at the 4:55 mark. Jerrilyn Richardson and Kylee Norman added baskets, but the Chargers closed the opening quarter outscoring the Falcons 12-4 to take a, 26-11, lead at the end of one.

The Falcons opened the second quarter strong with back-to-back baskets from Norman and Audrey Hendrix. Julia Susla added lay-in a few minutes later, as Montevallo trailed by ten, 28-18, at the 6:41 mark. Shalexia Little entered the game and scored the next four Falcon points, and Mouser added a jumper to cut deficit to single digits, 32-24, with 1:07 left in the half. The Chargers hit a lay-in, but Norman connected on a four-point play to end the half, as UAH held a six-point lead, 34-28, at the break.

The Chargers opened the second half with a triple, before Hughes knocked in the first Falcon field goal at 8:00. Hughes added another basket, but UAH extended its lead back out to double digits, 42-32, at the 6:30 mark. The Chargers continued to push scoring the next nine points to take a commanding, 51-32, lead with 4:02 left in the third. Norman halted the run, connecting a pair of free throws at 3:38. Little hit a three-pointer two minutes later, but the Chargers would take a, 60-37, advantage in the final quarter.

The Chargers opened the fourth quarter strong with the first seven points, before Little cashed in on a lay-in at the 6:30 mark. Hughes, Norman, and Little added baskets late, while London Robinson hit six free throws, but UAH ultimately took home the, 85-52, victory.
