MONTEVALLO, Ala. – The Montevallo baseball team dropped a 2-0 decision to Trevecca in the opening game of a three-game Gulf South Conference series Friday afternoon at Kermit A. Johnson Field at Bob Riesener Stadium.
Trevecca struck early with a solo home run in the top of the first inning to take a 1-0 lead. The Trojans added an insurance run in the third on an RBI single, pushing the advantage to 2-0.
Montevallo continued to battle at the plate, bringing the tying run to bat multiple times over the final innings, but was unable to break through as Trevecca secured the shutout victory.
Despite the loss, Montevallo starter Zach Wyatt turned in a strong outing on the mound, allowing just two runs over 7.0 innings while striking out a career-high nine batters.
