TAMPA, Fla. – The Montevallo baseball team fell 8-0 at No. 1 Tampa on Friday night to open the weekend series.

The hosts took control early, scoring three runs in the first inning before adding another in the third to carry a 4-0 lead into the middle innings.

Tampa extended the advantage with a two-run home run in the fourth and capped the scoring with a pair of runs in the fifth.

At the plate, McGwire Turner led the way with a pair of hits. Caleb Karll and Dominic Maldet each recorded a base hit in the loss.
